Baby Reflexology Foot Chart

My clients know I love to love, I love to hug, and I love the gift of touch.

When my babies were little, I would give them a bath and then massage them as I applied lotion (or coconut oil).

I love to be massaged myself, so I knew my babies would too. With multiple children, it was a great way for me to carve out some time to bond with my new baby.

I figured I’d start with a baby reflexology foot chart because it’s easy!

Your baby’s feet are small and you don’t have to be afraid you’ll hurt them because you don’t have to apply much pressure, a gentle rub, not “push” works great!

…….

Your Baby’s Zones:

Zone 1 and 2: Their toes.

This can help them with any discomfort they may have from teething or congestion in the head. You will want to gently massage each toe for 10-30 seconds each, for a total of no more than 5 min. This is also super easy to do while nursing your baby since you will have a free hand and playing with your baby’s feet while they eat can keep them awake and attentive long enough to get in a great feeding.

Zone 3: Solar Plexis

This is the first place that people gravitate towards when massaging somebody’s feet and there’s a reason for it: Overall sense of wellbeing! If you’ve ever had a massage, you know that gentle rubbing/pressure to this hollow-like areas under the ball of your foot makes you instantly relax. That instant relaxation can help with insomnia, stress and anxiety!

Zones 4-6: Bottom half of their foot.

Acid reflux, gas, constipation, digestion, and/or overall abdominal/pelvis area. I never used this area myself, so I can’t comment on it’s effectiveness, but I love to rub on my babies’ feet, so it doesn’t hurt to just rub on them and hope that it makes a difference. There are a lot of people who take reflexology very seriously, and I’ve attached some links below for more detailed reading.

The main idea? Enjoy your baby.

You never know which pregnancy/delivery/infant/baby/toddler/kid/teen will be your last, so savor every moment, every inch of that sweet little being in your care. You won’t regret it! You will never look back and say, “I wish I didn’t hold my baby so much when they were little.” Love them and let them love you!

This shot is a perfect example of how you can rub on your baby’s feet while nursing. This mom would take her left hand and rub on her daughter’s feet/foot poking out.

I am not a medical professional. I am a crazy busy mom to 5 kids trying to hold on to the sand of time running through my fingers.
